about ADHD

What is ADHD Life Coaching?

The challenges of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are very real. Whether you are 7 or 72, your ADHD will show up differently depending on your life circumstances, support, resources and unique talents.

Working with an ADHD Life Coach can help you create an awareness of your unique ADHD challenges, as well as the behaviors and inner narratives that may be getting in the way of your school, work, relationships and life goals.

ADHD Life Coaching is a partnership that focuses on your present challenges and how to move forward towards positive transformational change.

ADHD Life coaching can help you with:

  • Identifying how ADHD is impacting your life
  • Enhancing your organizational skills
  • Creating actionable plans to address behaviors you want to improve
  • Cultivating effective coping mechanisms

ADHD Life coaching can be particularly beneficial for individuals prepared to:

  • Acknowledge the challenges and difficulties associated with ADHD
  • Collaboratively devise strategies for improvement
  • Maintain a strong desire and curiosity to follow through with action plans

As your coach, I support you in achieving the change you desire, creating a space where you feel inspired to grow in self-confidence and empowerment. Together, we can work to understand how ADHD shows up for you, explore techniques that allow you to maximize your ADHD strengths and live the life you want.

What can I expect in my Coaching sessions?

You can expect a warm, nurturing, holistic coaching approach tailored to your specific needs. Coaching is about supporting you in achieving your goals in school, work and life.

Typically the first session (or sometimes 2 sessions) is devoted to “discovery”. This is when you and your coach build a roadmap of your challenges, strengths and goals. Coaching goals can include managing ADHD symptoms, designing effective systems and structures, developing life skills and strategies, and fostering resilience.

Coaching or Counselling: What's the Difference?

Counselling is a healing journey that focuses on exploring and addressing psychological challenges, emotional wounds, and mental health concerns. It provides a safe space for individuals to delve into their past experiences, traumas, and thoughts, often with the goal of achieving emotional healing, symptom relief, and improved overall well-being. Counselling employs a range of therapeutic techniques or modalities to guide clients towards understanding themselves better, navigating anxiety and distress, and developing healthier coping mechanisms.

Coaching is a forward-focused collaborative partnership that empowers individuals to set and achieve specific goals, enhance their skills, and maximize their potential. Coaches collaborate with clients to identify aspirations in work, life , relationships, or personal development. Through goal-setting, action planning, and ongoing support, coaching encourages clients to overcome obstacles, embrace change, and cultivate a more fulfilling life. Unlike counselling, coaching is not for addressing mental health concerns, but rather for personal growth, performance improvement, and realizing one’s work , life or relationship aspirations.

Counselling examines the whole life span- past, present and future. Coaching focuses on present and future goals. If you’re seeking resolution for emotional challenges or mental health concerns, counselling may be a good fit for you. If you’re looking to achieve specific goals, design frameworks of strengths and success to create positive changes in your life, coaching could be the right transformative journey.
